ANIMALS IN NEED

Bloubosrand Animal Welfare Group is a volunteer group (sub-committee of the Bloubosrand Community Forum) dedicated to rescuing the many abandoned and abused animals in and around Kyasand and Cosmo City in Johannesburg.

There are currently no measures being taken to protect or care for the many dogs and cats that are mistreated and in desperate need of food and medical attention. The sale of ‘end of lay’ battery chickens should have been outlawed long ago. They have suffered in the battery and are unfortunately further neglected by buyers and sellers.

Bloubosrand Animal Welfare Group is in search of any support from the general public that will help us gain the attention and assistance of the city council, as well as gather food, medical supplies and donations to get this initiative off the ground.

NOMSA

For many years Klarika Nettleton has been visiting the informal settlements in the area, partnering with these communities to bring relief to abused and neglected animals. She is well loved by those who live there and has been bestowed the name NOMSA which means ‘the one who is merciful’ in Zulu.

She also tries to teach people how to eat healthily the vegetarian/vegan way within an incredibly small budget.

We need pet food

We are always in need of food for the many starving and abandoned animals in and around the Kyasand informal townships.

We greatly appreciate any contributions of pet food towards this cause.

Donate clothing

We collect clothing for adults and children, as well as toys and books for the children. We use these to incentivise and encourage the residents of informal settlements to take care of their pets and livestock. All donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated.
